Abstract

1,273,076. Bearings; mounting wheels on bearings. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. 2 April, 1970 [3 April, 1969], No. 15790/70. Headings F2A and F2U. The inner race 6 of a multi-row rolling bearing comprises an axial projection 7 having a conical outer surface 8 so that a wheel-supporting boss 9 can be locked thereon. The bore 17 of the race contains lubricant, and is closed at one end by a slidable rubber or plastics plug 16, which can act as a plunger to supply lubricant to the rolling elements across the face of the end cap 15. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the boss is locked on the race by means of a conical nut (19) and a two-part ring (20) which engages in a groove in the outer surface of the race.
