Abstract

1,272,235. Wire let-off assembly. NATIONALSTANDARD CO. 13 Oct., 1969 [31 Oct., 1968], No. 50108/69. Heading D1J. Mounted co-axially within a package of wire 5 is a wire outlet passageway 22 comprising upper and lower bell-shaped configurations 23, 24. The passageway 22 is carried by a pair of bars 3 that embrace magnets 18. The magnets 18 adhere to a wrapper 10 of magnetic metal that is wound circumferentially around the outer periphery of the package. The wrapper 10 extends radially inwardly over end walls 7, 8 to hold these end walls in engagement with the package. The package comprises wire wound in adjacent convolutions with overlapping layers extending from the inside diameter to the outside diameter of the coil. The convolutions have a cast diameter that is greater than the outside diameter of the coil, the wire of the coil has one twist per convolution, at least part of the wire is under tension and the outer end of the wire is fixed to prevent uncoiling.
