Compounds of the general formula (wherein A represents D represents CH 2 or CO, R and R 1 each represent H, halogen, amino, NO 2 or CF 3 , R 3 and R 4 each represent H or C 1-7 alkyl, R 2 represents H, C 1-7 alkyl, C 2-7 alkenyl, benzenesulphonyl, (C 1-7 alkyl) benzenesulphonyl or C 1-4 alkanoyl, R 5 = H, halogen or NO 2 , R 6 =H, C 1-7 alkyl or C 2-7 alkenyl) and their acid addition salts are prepared by (a) cyclizing a compound of the formula (R 8 = R 2 except alkanoyl, B represents phenyl, halophenyl or nitrophenyl) or (b) reacting a compound of the formula (Hal represents halogen) with ammonia in an inert organic solvent, optionally followed by reduction, replacement of NH 2 by halogen, acylation, alkylation, alkenylation and/or salt formation. The above compounds are anticonvulsants, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
