Abstract
1,270,238. Cooling I.C. engines. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. 26 Nov., 1970 [27 Nov., 1969], No. 56256/70. Headings F4S and F4U. In a cooling system for an internal combustion engine where the engine 10 is connected by a cooling-water feed-pipe 11 to the inlet-side header 12 of a cross-flow radiator 13 and, through a cooling-water pump 14, to the outletside header 16 by a return pipe 15, the header 16 is divided by a vertical partition 17 into a watercollecting chamber 18 and an air-separation chamber 19, the chamber 19 communicating with chamber 18 through an opening 24. At the upper end 20 of the chamber 19 is a combined pressure-relief and breather valve 21. The connection 22 for filling the system with water opens into the inlet-side header 12.
