Abstract

1,269,948. Endless conveyers for plastics extrudate. MIDLAND INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 Nov., 1969 [9 Nov., 1968], No. 53185/68. Heading B8A. In haul-off machines comprising a supporting frame by which are supported a plurality of gripping means 22, 24, 26, 28 arranged to grip an article 10 (e.g. plastics extrudate), in an opening between them, means is provided to adjust the gripping means on the frame, and there are driving means to drive the gripping means and thereby to advance the article. The supporting frame includes two rectilinear slideway members 16, 18 disposed relatively transversely, at. least one gripping means slidably mounted on each of the slideway members so as to be adjustable therealong, driving means 22, 24, 26, 28 each comprising a carriage mounting an endless gripping belt (52) (Fig. 2, not shown) formed with integral side-by-side V-belts, and driven by a multi V-groove roller (54). The tension of each belt 52 is adjustable at 60. The drive to the belts is via a variable speed gear-box (88) adjustable at (89). The spacing of the gripping means 26, 28 is adjusted by a screw operating handle 51. The height of a carriage 32 carrying the gripping means 24 is adjusted by a handle 46. The height of a carriage 30 carrying the gripping means 22 is adjusted by the action of an hydraulic cylinder 40, a screw 38 actuated by a nut 41 being rotated for fine adjustment. For dealing with articles of small cross-section, attachment (118) (Fig. 7, not shown) is secured to one or more of the means 22, 24, 26, 28.
