Abstract

126,836. Weir, G. & J., and Lang, C. R. June 11, 1918. Fluid-actuated valves.-A valve device for use in connexion with apparatus for treating boiler feed-water of the kind described in Specifications 125,149 and 126,014, [both in Class 123 (ii), Steam generatorsJ, is constructed so as to close slowly. In the form shown, the closing action is retarded by inserting a check valve r, having a restricted. by-pass, in the conduit supplying the actuating fiuid. The valve b is closed by fluid pressure admitted through a pipe q acting on a piston e or a diaphragm against the action of a spring k. A lever o is fitted for hand actuation. In a modification, the check valve is omitted, and a second loading spring is arranged inside the spring k which only comes into operation as the valve member nears its seat.
