Abstract

1,267,149. Heat exchanger tubes. UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO. 7 Dec., 1970 [1 June, 1970], No. 57916/70. Heading F4S. A heat exchanger tube 10 has a portion or portions of its length provided externally with a coating 20 of porous material, e.g. sintered metal powder, the said portion or portions even with said coating thereon, being of lesser diameter than the uncoated parts of the tube. The tube is intended for immersion in a liquid which boils on the coated surface. The reduced diameter portions of the tube are preferably formed by corrugating as indicated, e.g. at 18. The tube shown has full diameter end portions 12, 14 which are fitted in tube end plates and a full diameter central region 16. Preferred tube dimensions are given.
