Abstract

Automatic pistols for spraying enamels and like materials comprise a jet system, a pistol body 1 in which is situated a blocking needle valve 8 in the spray material passage, and a pneumatic control cylinder 4 containing a piston 5, an end portion of the valve needle being located adjacent the piston and provided with an end member 9 having a peripheral recess, the piston including a driver 6 connected to the piston and having an eccentrically positioned opening 7, the portion of the driver forming the rim of the opening being engageable with said recess, the body extending into the cylinder and comprising at least two pins projecting therefrom and adapted to be accommodated in corresponding bayonet slots provided in the jacket of the cylinder whereby the body is connectable to the cylinder. The piston may be biased to close the valve by compression spring 15. The needle may be sealed by stuffing box system 2 retained in the body by gland bolt 3.
