Abstract

1,160,957. Spray-producers. BROOM & WADE Ltd. 23 Nov., 1966 [26 Nov., 1965], No. 50432/65. Heading B2F. A paint spray gun comprises an air supply passage 14 controlled by a spring-loaded valve 23 which is longitudinally movable with respect to the gun handle 10 on initial actuation of a trigger 12, and a spring-loaded needle valve 32 controlling the paint outlet 52 and adapted to be retracted longitudinally of the body 11 of the gun on further actuation of the trigger. The valves 23 and 32 are loaded by springs 25 and 33 respectively. The initial actuation of the trigger causes a cam surface 37 on a link 36 to depress an extension 38 of the valve 23 and the further actuation causes a shoulder on the link 36 to engage a member 40 on the stem of the valve 32. The passage 14 is connected to air horns by passages (15), Fig. 3 (not shown), 16 and 17 and to a central annular outlet by passages 18, 19. A rotary valve 20 having operating knobs (29) on each side of the gun may be rotated so as to cut off the air supply to the air horns only.
