Abstract

1,265,428. Disazo dyes. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 4 Dec., 1970 [4 Dec., 1969], No. 57722/70. Heading C4P. Disazo dyes have the general formula wherein R 1 represents H, Cl, Br, a straight or branched chain alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, CF 3 , an alkoxy group having 1-4 carbon atoms, an alkylsulphonyl, alkanoylamino or a sulphonamide groupwhich may be alkylated, NO 2 , CN, or an alkyl or alkoxy carbonyl group; m is an integer from 1-5 and R 2 is hydrogen, halogen, methyl, ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy. The dyes are obtained by diazotizing an amine of formula and coupling with α-naphthylamine or a protected derivative of formulµ the protective group being removed after coupling with acid or alkaline saponification. The dyes give dark blue shades on nitrogencontaining materials e.g. wool, silk and synthetic polyamide or polyurethane fibres.
