Abstract

1325541 Monoazo dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 July 1970 [16 July 1969 26 Jan 1970] 35773/69 and 3587/70 Heading C4P The invention comprises monoazo dyes having the general formula wherein R 1 represents a hydrogen atom or C 1 -C 4 alkyl group; X and Y independently represent a hydrogen or chlorine atom, or a C 1 -C 4 alkyl or alkoxy group or a group -NHCOR 2 wherein R 2 is a C 1 -C 4 alkyl group. The dyes are prepared by coupling a diazotized amine of formula with 2 - amino - 8 - hydroxy - naphthalene - 6- sulphonic acid under acid conditions. The dyes give red shades on synthetic polyamide fibre materials.
