Abstract
1,264,548. Thermionic cathode constructions. NARVA VEB. 25 Feb., 1969, No. 9975/69. Heading H1D. A self-heated electrode, e.g. for a Hg highpressure lamp, comprises a tungsten pin 1 surrounded by an emitter structure formed by either wire coils 2 carrying emissive material or by a sintered emissive body. This structure is surrounded by one or more protective coils 3 spaced therefrom and held on to the tungsten pin by bending one or both end turns into contact with the pin or emitter structure. One of the end turns may be bent substantially diametrically across the coil and the other end turn may be bent tangentially to the pin.
