Abstract

1,262,801. Sugar centrifuge. SALZGITTER MASCHINEN A.G. 3 Feb., 1970 [4 Feb., 1969], No. 5016/70. Heading BID. [Also in Division F2] The drum 1 of a sugar centrifuge has a lower opening for discharging the sugar, which opening is normally closed by a frusto-conical sleeve-like hood 7, which is made of rubber and can be raised by rams 9 to open the opening, the hood sliding up spindle 6 and into rigid bell 10 which causes the hood to deform, reducing its effective cross-section to minimise obstruction to the discharging stream and to any auxilliary washing and discharging means in the drum. Bell 10 may be adjustable along spindle 6 compress hood 7 further. The lower edge of bell 10 may be undulating and radiused to help the hood to slide in.
