Abstract

1,259,508. Presser foot shank. LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd. 9 April, 1970 [28 April, 1969], No. 21582/69. Heading D1G. To permit its fitting to either a high or a low presser bar the presser foot shank 10 comprising first and second portions 14, 15, has a frangible zone 13 therebetween to permit separation of the first and second portions, each of the end portions having means 19, 21, for securing the part to the presser bar of a sewing-machine. Each portion is either integral with or, as shown, attachable to a presser foot. In the latter case notches 16, 18 are provided to grippingly receive a slide (33, Fig. 5, not shown) on a presser foot (25) provided with guide channels (29) and a needle slot (32) for sewing a sliding clasp fastener (27) to fabric. The slot 18 is inclined to the end of the shank to permit its use with an inclined presser bar. The shank may be of mouldable plastics. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1182672 and 1182673.
