Abstract
1,259,319. Destroying land mines. MESSERSCHMITT - BOLKOW - BLOHM G.m.b.H. 29 July, 1969 [1 Aug., 1968], No. 38115/69. Heading B7A. [Also in Division F3] A passage is cleared through a mine field by detonating an explosive charge of gas or gas mixed with liquid or solid explosives in the form of a foam or fog. The charge may be contained in a network of inflatable tubes, as shown, which is unrolled over the mine field, Fig. 4 (not shown), by inflating the tubes with the explosive gas, e.g. a mixture of oxygen with hydrogen, acetylene or carbon disulphide, a detonating wire 11 being connected to the network for firing the charge. Other tube arrangements may be used, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). Alternatively, the explosive charge may be dispersed over the mine field by a missile propelled by the dispersing thrust, Fig. 5 (not shown), or by a tracked vehicle with an adjustable dispensing jet pipe, Fig. 6 (not shown). The explosive may be such that two successive explosions occur.
