Abstract

1,258,679. Making reinforced concrete edging frames. STELCON A.G. 23 July, 1970 [2 April, 1970], No. 35657/70. Heading B3A. [Also in Division E1] A method of making an edging frame 1 for reinforced concrete slabs comprises bending from steel strips angular sections 2, which are subsequently welded together to form a rectangular structure, the vertical flange 4 on each section being formed with at least one stiffened bead 5. The angular bending and bead-forming operations are performed cold, thereby workhardening the steel. The strength of the corners is not adversely affected by the loss of the workhardening effect due to welding. Anchoring tongues 6, 8 are punched out of the sections 2 and bent inwards at right angles. An alternative form of tongue (6) is punched out of the bottoms of channels (7) pressed into the flanges 4 above the bead 5, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown). The tongues (6) are of a cranked configuration, compared with the straight tongues 6.
