Abstract
1,257,420. Hotplate stoves; ignition and control of burners. ARMATURENWERK NIEDERSCHELD G.m.b.H. 8 April, 1970 [12 April, 1969], No. 16744/70. Headings F4F, F4T and F4W. A gas heated surface cooking unit comprises one or more burners 10 enclosed in a separate chamber 18 having an air inlet and a flue outlet 46, and an impermeable hot plate 12 mounted above the or each burner. An air entry chamber 14 below the burner has an inlet 16 and is separated from the burner chamber by a dished partition having air inlet holes 20 adjacent the burner head 10. The burner mixing tube 24 passes through the air inlet chamber and draws air from it. The hot plate 12 has a finned underside, and separate controls for a piezo-electrically operated spark igniter and the gas valve for each burner are mounted on the casing which has slots 42 to allow the burners to be observed through windows 44 in the chambers 18. A slotted cover, Fig. 2 (not shown), may be arranged over the hot plates.- A flue pipe connected to the flue outlet 46 may be surrounded by an open-ended sleeve to provide hot air circulation by convection, and a flame failure safety device may be provided.
