Abstract

1,256,679. Ignition systems. FIAT S. p. A. July 28, 1970 [Aug.5, 1969], No.36509/70. Heading F1B. A capacitive discharge electronic ignition system for internal-combustion engines comprises an A.C. generator G having a voltage regulator which allows the generator to generate a voltage sufficient to charge a capacitor C even when the engine is rotating under the influence of a starting motor and means K for effecting a cyclic discharge of the capacitor through an ignition coil AT. The AC generator may be a multi phase generator and be coupled to the capacitor by means of an auxiliary coil wound on to one phase of the generator or be coupled to the capacitor by means of a transformer.
