Abstract

1,256,399. Colour television tubes. SONY CORP. 24 Dec., 1969 [30 Dec., 1968], No. 62899/69. Heading H1D. In a colour television tube employing three coplanar convergent electron beams which are scanned magnetically over the screen, the two outer beams are shielded by magnetic screening means from leakage flux from the horizontal deflection field in order to correct for deviations between the rasters of the beams on the screen. When the coplanar beams diverge from a common focusing lens and are converged by pairs of deflection plates P and Q, Fig. 5, the screening means may comprise shielding strips Y attached to the ends of the outer plates Q and provided with inwardly extending ends 61 and 62. These shield the outer beams B B and B R from leakage flux from the horizontal deflection field (the lines of force of which are vertical in Fig. 5) but not the central beam B G and thereby compensate for the different effects of the main horizontal deflection field on the beams due to their differing paths through the field.
