Abstract

1,256,340. Monoazo disperse dyes. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 4 June, 1969 [27 June, 1968], No. 10033/71. Divided out of 1,249,641. Heading C4P. Disperse monoazo dyes of formula in which A is an optionally substituted aryl radical, X is a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl group, and Z is an optionally substituted alkyl group are prepared by coupling in aqueous alkaline conditions a diazo compound derived from A-NH 2 with a coupling component of formula the symbols being as above there being no free sulphonic or carboxylic acid groups present. In particular 4-chloroaniline is diazotized and coupled with 1-ethyl-6-hydroxypyrid-2-one or its 4-methyl-, 4-benzyl- and 4-(p-methoxybenzyl)-, derivatives to give yellow-green dyes.
