Structures formed from prefabricated reinforced concrete slabs are reinforced at the joints by the insertion of metal rods into drilled co-axial holes in the slabs, and their securing in position using a self-hardening cement. The rods may be straight, U- (staple) shaped (as shown) or tied to other rods arranged in parallel, and may be of stainless steel. The cement is preferably provided in a cartridge containing epoxy or polyester resin mastic separated from a catalyst in such a way that insertion of the rod into the cartridge causes mixing of the ingredients. The surface of the metal rod may be deformed.
