Abstract

1,255,377. Thermal storage heaters. BURCO DEAN Ltd. 31 Dec., 1970 [12 Dec., 1969], No. 60635/69. Heading F4U. A thermal storage heater comprises a proportioning valve 28 sensitive to air outlet temperatures to control relative air flow through a by-pass passage 24 and passages 16, 18, 20 about and in the core of storage blocks 14. The valve 28, Fig. 2, is in flap form controlled through linkage 30 from a sensor 33 in the air outlet via a heating element 35 attached to the upper side of a thermometal strip 32 fixed at one end 34 and at the other connected to the linkage 30 so as to open and close the flap valve 28. The strip 32, after fully closing the valve, bends further to operate a switch 36 to supply current to the heating elements in the core and to an additional heater 38 in the by-pass passage, if fitted.
