Abstract

[Also in Division F4] Water from a gas-fired heater 1 is directed by valve member 6 to a heating coil 10 if the temperature in water tank 11, as detected by thermal element 22, is low enough to allow the latter to close switch 21 to energize thermistor 20 to expand bellows 13 against spring 23 thereby positioning member 6 as shown. Switch 17, 19 is simultaneously closed to ensure an electrical supply to the motor driving feed pump 4. When the water in tank 11 is at the desired temperature, switch 21 is open, bellows 13 retracts and valve member 6 diverts the hot water from heater 1 to radiators 8. When the temperature in line 7 is at a desired value, thermal element 16 opens switch 15 to shut down the pump. The thermistor can be associated with a heating resistance which can be in series with an economy resistance through a contact opened upon expansion of the bellows 13.
