Abstract
1,255,231. Welding by pressure. FRIED KRUPP G.m.b.H. 17 March, 1969 [20 March, 1968], No. 14474/69. Heading B3R. In explosively bonding a metal cladding sheet to a metal base sheet, the cladding sheet being inclined to and spaced from the base sheet, explosive on the surface of the cladding sheet is detonated at the end of the cladding sheet which is further from the base sheet. A cladding sheet 2 is spaced from and arranged at an angle a to the base sheet 1 by means of distance pieces of foamed plastics material, explosive 3 is applied to the upper surface of the sheet 2 and detonation of the explosive is effected by a detonator 4 connected to the end furthest from the sheet 2. The angle α may be from 0À5 to 5 degrees or even up to 16 degrees An intermediate layer may be provided between the explosive and the cladding sheet.
