Abstract

1,253,951. Flexible couplings. K. MORO. 16 Feb., 1970 [19 Feb., 1969; 24 May, 1969], No. 7370/70. Heading F2U. A flexible shaft coupling comprises a pair of parallel discs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> on the driving and driven shafts and connected by a length of wire 6 of low elasticity passed alternately from one disc to the other. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the wire 6 is passed successively through axial holes 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, 12, 12<SP>1</SP>... in the spaced-apart discs 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, while in Fig. 4 the discs are held together by the wire passed axially through the holes and helically over the peripheries of discs 4, 4<SP>1</SP>. To reduce friction the wire may pass over rollers instead of through holes in the discs, Fig. 5 (not shown). The wire may be of synthetic resin yarn impregnated with silicone oil.
