Clips and clamps, pivoted-jaw. - A clamp for closing the mouth of a grain or other bag comprises jaws a, b, Fig. 1, pivoted at c, the free end of the jaw b being slotted at h, Figs. 1 and 3, and provided with a bolt j slidable in the slot and carrying a resilient link i, which can be slid to the end of the jaw b, swung around to embrace the jaw a, and then slid along the jaws to grip them in the position required. A. wing-nut m may be provided on the bolt to lock the link in position, and a setscrew, engaging holes k in the link and one of a series of screwed holes c in the jaw a, may also be used. In a modification, the U-shaped bolt j<1>, Fig. 5, extending through the slot h and link i, has a spring n arranged between the head j<3> and the link. On depressing the head j<3>, the bolt and link may be moved along the slot, and the link made to engage the jaw a and the end j<2> of the bolt one of the series of holes in the jaw a. Upon releasing the head j<3>, the spring holds the bolt in engagement with the jaw a. In this modification, the link may be dispensed with. The end j<2> of the bolt may be screw-threaded to receive a nut and may be provided with a hole and securing-pin o. The adjacent edges of the jaws may be provided with recesses and projections, and the free ends of the jaws may be curved downwards.
