In a key-operable lock having pivoted security levers 14 which are moved angularly to pre-determined positions by means of the key, flexible spacers 25 are disposed between adjacent security levers 14. Each spacer 25 is provided with open ended slots 26, 27, the former engaging in one of a number of axially spaced circumferential grooves in a pivot pin 12 and the latter engaging in one of a number of axially spaced circumferential grooves in a stop post 20, the pivot pin 12 and the stop post 20 being mounted in a casing 10. The levers 14 are slotted at 15 to receive an extension 16 of a bolt 11 therein and are notched at 19 so that each of the levers 14 can receive a leaf of a spring 17 therein, the spacers 25 being shaped so as to provide clearance for the extension 16 and so as to extend over the notch 19 of each adjacent lever and confine the action of each lever to its associated lever. In use, in order that the bolt 11 can move from a withdrawn position to a shot position or vice versa, each of the levers 14 must be moved against the action of the spring 17 by means of a key (not shown) to a position where the extension 16 is in the central position of the slot 15. In a modification, Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown) a master plate 29, for use with a master key, is riveted to a post 30, the latter replacing the stop post 20. The master plate 29 is cut away to prevent actuation by the key and a security lever 31, remote from the plate 29, is recessed at 32 so as to engage the post 30. A master key, having a portion engageable with an edge 33 of the lever 31, on being rotated moves the lever 31 and consequently the post 30. This will allow the extension 16 of the bolt 11 to move within the slots formed in all of the levers.
