Abstract

1,252,080. Variable resistors. W. PREH, [trading as PREH ELEKTROFEINMECHANISCHE WERKE JAKOB PREH NACHFOLGER]. 10 Nov., 1969 [20 Nov., 1968], No. 54980/69. Heading H1S. A slide resistor comprises an insulating baseplate 1, a rectilinear resistance element 2 and a metal contact track 3 which are mechanically attached to the base-plate 1 and interconnected by a spring wiper 15, and a spring wiper carrier constructed in two parts 7 and 12 which are held together by studs 11 which project through a guide opening 18 which extends in the baseplate for the length of the resistance element. The upper part 7 of the carrier has an extension 8 for receiving an operating knob and this may be laterally offset from a single guide opening (Fig. 6, not shown), or placed symmetrically between two parallel guide openings (Figs. 7 and 9, not shown) in order to improve the insulation from the exterior. The base-plate 1 may be flat (Figs. 1-7, not shown), or may be of U-section as shown, with closed ends so as to form a closed unit when attached to a printed circuit. The resistance element 2 and contact track 3 may be attached by rivets 6, clamps, studs, strips on the base-plate, or adhesive.
