1,248,652. Basic dye salt compositions. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 10 April, 1969 25 [April, 1968 (2)], No. 18458/69. Heading D1B. Dyeing compositions comprise (a) dye salts of formulae D<SP>+</SP>Ar<SP>1</SP>SO 3 <SP>-</SP> and K<SP>+</SP>ArSO<SP>-</SP> in which D<SP>+</SP> is a cationic basic dye having a delocalized positive charge, K<SP>+</SP> is a cationic dye having a localized pendant positive charge of formula in which 2 is a dye nucleus, Y is a covalent bond or a divalent connecting linkage selected from an alkylene group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, NR 3 , CONR 3 , SO 2 NR 3 , CO, NR 3 CO, COO, or SO 2 , R 1 and R 2 which may be the same or different are each an alkyl, cyanoalkyl or hydroxyalkyl group of up to 4 carbon atoms or an aralkyl group of 7 to 11 carbon atoms, or together form a divalent heterocyclic ring containing an N<SP>+</SP> nitrogen atom, R 3 is a hyrogen atom or an alkyl group of up to 4 carbon atoms and R 4 is an alkyl group of up to 4 carbon atoms or is NH 2 , Ar is a carbocyclic aromatic group containing from 6 to 14 ring carbon atoms which is substituted with substituents that are non-ionogenic and whose summation of pKa increments as measured on benzoic acid derivatives in an aqueous medium is equal to or less than -0.9 and Ar is a carbocyclic aromatic group containing from 6 to 14 ring carbon atoms which is substituted with substituents that are non-ionogenic and whose summation of pKa increments as measured in benzoic acid derivatives in an aqueous medium is equal to or less than -0.6 (b) an anionic dispersing agent comprising lignin sulphonate or a salt of a sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde condensate. Acid modified acrylic, acid modified polyamide and acid modified polyesters are dyed with there compositions by padding, drying and heating at 350 to 450‹F. for 60 to 300 seconds to fix the dye.
