Abstract

1,247,107. Container closures. ETABS GIRAUD PROVOST & CIE. 5 May, 1969, No. 22746/69. Heading B8T. A plastics closure device for a container 1 comprises a mouthpiece 3 and a cover member 8 which engage each other by means of complementary buttress screw threads and are fixed on container edge 2 such that access to the container 1 is only achieved by breaking a plastics cord 9 and unscrewing the cover member 8. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the closure device is adapted for use on a container (11) which has an anchoring groove (12) on its external wall. Again, Fig. 3 (not shown), the cover member (23) is attached directly to the threaded mouth (22) of the container (21); or, Fig. 4 (not shown), the stopper (23A) is screwed into the internally buttress threaded mouth (22A) of the container (21A). The plastics cord, Figs. 5 to 7 (not shown), may be replaced by a pin (31) which extends from the lower edge of the cover member (26) and engages in an aperture (30) of a lug (29) on the container mouth, thereby acting as locating and sealing means; or, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), the cord may be replaced by a small ball (36) attached by a tearable connection (37) to the lower edge of cover member (26A), the tearable connection (37) passing through a slot (35) between lips (33) and (34). Again, Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown), an internally buttress-threaded ring (48) is forced on to an externally threaded cap (40) to which it is attached by a cord (49). The cap may be screwed on to the neck of the container by means of conventional screw threads, Figs. 12 and 13 (not shown).
