Abstract

1,246,884. Electric couplings. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 6 Feb., 1969 [9 Feb., 1968], No. 6474/69. Heading H2E. An electrical supply rail comprises a metal casing 1 with slots 12, 13 giving access to busbars 6, 7 mounted in insulating bodies 4, 5, preferably of ceramic or thermosetting plastics, separated from casing 1 by air gaps 24, 25. Resilient plastics flaps 18, 19 act as safety guards. An earthing strip 22 is provided. Casing 1, of extruded Al, is fixed to supports by screws extending through apertures 11. The rail is divided into sections which are interconnected by members 30, Fig. 2, having insulating tongues 35 extending into airgaps 24, 25 to increase the creepage length at the connections.
