Abstract
1,246,467. Injection moulding. PIRELLI SpA. 6 Dec., 1968, No. 58006/68. Heading B5A. A cylindrical metallic core 2 is covered with an elastomeric material 16 by injecting the material into the annular space between the core and a tubular mould 1 by means of a screw injector secured to the mould by a ring 11. Material passes into the annular space via circumferentially spaced channels 17 in a core centring disc 9 slid on to a core pin 4. A centring ring 7 and a disc 5 are carried on a pin 3 at the opposite end of the core and are secured by a ring 8; material bleed holes 6 are provided in the disc 5. After the injection step the mould is separated from the injector and the disc 9 replaced by a closure ring (13), Fig. 2, not shown, and the mould assembly placed in an oven to vulcanize the covering.
