Abstract

1,246,191. 246,191. Rotary pumps. TATRA NARODNI PODNIK. Dec.4, 1969 [Dec.18, 1968], No.59224/69. Heading F1F. A pump assembly for the lubrication of a dry crank-case I.C. engine comprises a first pump 9 for extracting lubricant which has collected in the crank-case and discharging it to an oil tank 5 and a second pump 2 which draws oil from the tank and delivers it to lubricate the engine. In the case of an engine mounted on a vehicle which is travelling up or down hill the liquid level 11 in the crankcase lies below the suction tube 8 for the pump 9 resulting in the possible seizing up of that pump through lack of lubrication. To remove this likelihood a partition 15 between the pumps is provided with a channel 12 through which oil from the pump 2 can pass to the pump 9 to lubricate the latter.
