A nestable-stackable container A is adapted to carry a stack of smaller shallower trays B which are also nestable. The trays B each comprise a bottom wall 112 having slots 46, outwardly flared side walls 114 and 116 having upwardly projecting lugs 48, and outwardly flared and fluted end walls 118, 120, the portions 124, 126 of which have slots 34<SP>1</SP> at the bottom. The trays B may be nested when similarly oriented or stacked having a 90 degrees relationship between the layers, as shown, the lugs 48 of the lower trays extending through the slots of the upper trays. The container A comprises side walls 12, 14, each having a pair of vertically extending channels 20 which have shoulders 22, 40, 42, an outwardly projecting portion 20a, and are overlaid by projections 34 of extension portions 50 of the upper edges 24, 26; and a bottom wall 10 having outwardly extending projections 30 with slots 32. The containers A are stacked when similarly oriented, the slots 32 and projections 34 engaging, and are nested, separately from the trays B, by inserting the projections 30 of an upper container into the free portions of the slots 20 in a lower container until projections 30 engage shoulders 22, and then moving the upper container so that the shoulders 22 and projections 30 of the upper container move along the shoulders 40 and 22 of the lower container until the containers are vertically aligned.
