Abstract

1,244,354. Scoop-arm machines. TEREDO MASKIN AB. 23 Sept., 1968, No. 45162/68. Heading E1F. In a digging machine comprising a pivoted boom 10 operated by a hydraulic ram 15 and supporting a pivoted arm 11 carrying a bucket 12 and operated by a hydraulic ram 16, a further hydraulic ram 28 connected to the arm by a wire 30 is provided for operating the arm. The rams 15 and 16 and a ram 17 for operating the bucket are respectively supplied with oil by pumps 15c, 16c and 17c, and a return conduit associated with the pump 15c has a restriction 25a. Lugs 33, 34 are provided on the arm for operative alternative connection to the wire 30, and lugs 35 are provided on the boom 10 for use when the ram 28 is not required. A valve 39 is operative to alternatively connect the ram 28 to a conduit 16b supplying the ram 16, or to the return conduit having the restriction 25a which has the effect of preventing slackening of the wire 30. The valve 39 may be moved manually or automatically in dependence on the pressure in the conduit 16b, the pressure being used to operate a microswitch against spring pressure.
