Abstract

1,244,310. Waste removal from combing machines. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. 12 Dec., 1968 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 58434/67. Headings D1F and DIN. Waste is removed from each combing head 14 of a textile combing machine by being sucked onto a rotating drum 11 at one peripheral region thereof, and then the web so formed on the drum being drawn off it at another peripheral region thereof by suction duct 23, through which the fibres pass to a waste disposal station 20. The drum has a plurality of perforated sections 12, each of which is located opposite a waste duct 13 of a comb cylinder 14. Drum 11 is closed at one end and a D-section duct 34 with an aperture 35 at each combing head extends longitudinally of the drum and is connected by branch duct 16 and main duct 17 to a suction fan 18. A branch duct 21, 22 leads to a duct 23 extending the full length of the drum and presents an opening 24 opposite each perforated section of the drum. Shutters 26, 27, 28 control the suction effect. Roller 29 consolidates the web formed on the drum. Separate fan may be provided for ducts 34 and 23.
