An electrically heated thermal storage stove comprises a thermal storage mass 2 having an air duct 9, 11 and a cross-flow fan 14 which draws air through the duct 9, 11, and unheated air through a gap between plates 10, 19 and discharges the mixture through an outlet 17. The bearings of the fan impeller are outside the fan housing and are cooled by a flow of unheated air induced by the airflow through the outlet 17.
