Abstract
1,240,872. Moving coil instruments. SAUSER A. G. July 22, 1968 [July 29, 1967], No.34919/68. Heading G1Q. The frame for the moving coil of an electrical moving coil instrument has a metal body on which the coil is wound, and support members which support needle bearings. The body and support members are such that the support members are or can be mounted on the body to enclose the coil with the needle bearings defining an axis of rotation through two opposite sides of the body. The body 11 may be rectangular with upstanding edges 14, 15, the coil being wound within these. A support member 18 fits over the coil and is secured to the body by lugs 22 upstanding therefrom. The member carries an anchorage 19 for the coil spring of the instrument and a pointer 20. A needle bearing 23 is fitted to it. In an alternative arrangement Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the support member is U-shaped and carries lugs fitting into the body. In another arrangement Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the body has upstanding curved pieces and the support member is of circular section to fit between these. Such an arrangement permits rotative adjustment of the support, to adjust the pointer.
