Abstract
1,240,200. Horizontal coke ovens. SIMONCARVES Ltd. 8 Sept., 1969 [13 Dec., 1968], No. 44323/69. Addition to 1,212,63,1. Heading F4B. In a horizontal underjet regenerative coke oven with hairpin heating flues 18, 19 having three burners 27, 28, 29 in each flue leg, the burners are disposed in line along the flue with the lowest in the middle and are elongated as compared with associated rich gas risers (23, Fig. 4) in a direction perpendicular to the long axis of the heating wall, ports in connections 30, 31 to a pair of regenerators serving the flue being disposed parallel to, partly between and substantially beyond the burners. The connection parts 30, 31 are disposed symmetrically of the heating flue. The high burners 28, 29 are recessed in the cross-walls 17 so that their mouths are alongside the flue walls.
