Abstract

1,239,887. Machine tools; machine tool details. A. MONFORTS. 24 June, 1969 [29 June, 1968], No. 31756/69. Headings B3B and B3T. A machine tool comprises a chuck 4 which can be rotated whilst a tool spindle 13 is secured against rotation by a clamping device 15, or the chuck 4 can be held stationary by a locking device 19 with the tool spindle rotated by a motor 14. The tool spindle 13 is part of a unit 12 mounted in a vertically displaceable slide 10, which is mounted on a movable frame 7 guided by a wedge 8 in a crossbeam 9. The frame is mounted on a bed 6. Devices 15 and 19 engage in the grooves of rings 16 and 20 respectively. There are two chucks 4 and 5 which are rotatably mounted on a support 3, which is itself indexable such that each chuck can be positioned between an unloading position and a position where it can be coupled with a workpiece spindle 17. This spindle is driven via a gear-wheel 18. A drill head 24 is attached to unit 12 and is driven by spindle 13. Tools are supplied to the tool spindle 13 from a tool magazine 11 by known means.
