Abstract

1,239,188. Electronic keyboard instrument. WURLITZER CO. 24 Feb., 1970 [12 March, 1969], No. 8829/70. Heading G5J. [Also in Division H4] An electronic keyboard instrument has two elliptical loudspeakers 32, 34 positioned at either end of the instrument case 10, so mounted and constructed that lower frequencies are more clearly radiated from the loudspeaker 32, and the higher frequencies from loudspeaker 34. The loudspeakers 32, 34 are held in place by brackets 50, (64), see also Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), and the loudspeaker 32, having a softer cone, is so mounted with a gasket 72 that it is sealed to the surface 16 of the case, whereas loudspeaker 34, having a harder cone, and high resonant frequency is so mounted that there is a gap 74 between the surface 16 and its cone, so that lower frequencies are further weakened. The loudspeakers are connected in parallel and to an amplifier 42, and there are tone generators 40, which may be electronic, or reeds with capacitative pick-up. The speakers 32, 34 and their mountings may be the same, with filter circuits to emphasize the desired lower and upper frequencies respectively. A third full range loudspeaker may be mounted centrally.
