Abstract
1,239,158. Keyboards for printer. VOGUE INSTRUMENT CORP. 29 April, 1969 [29 April, 1968], No. 21848/69. Heading B6F. [Also in Divisions G4 and H3] Each key 34-40 is attached to a corresponding magnetic bar 42 which is magnetized either permanently or by a coil 66, flux normally passes through a shunt member 60, but on actuation of a key, bar 42 breaks away from member 60 so that the key stem 35-41 comes into contact with an associated magnetic core 70-76 and the flux path is rapidly switched through the core to produce a coded parallel output from windings 69 provided on the core. Restoration of bars 42 may be effected by a spring 54 or springs on the key stems, diodes being provided to block reverse pulses induced in the windings, though the reverse pulse produced on release of a shift key may be utilized to indicate cancellation of the shift function.
