Abstract

1,238,665. Bearings. NADELLA, and A. PITNER. 13 Sept., 1968 [15 Sept., 1967], No. 43571/68. Addition to 1,153,987. Heading F2A. A seal for a needle bearing comprises a flexible annular sealing element 6 which abuts a radial flange 4 formed in an outer race 1, the sealing element being held in position by a thrust washer 8 having a split 8a formed in it. The outer edge 9 of the washer abuts an axially extending portion 11 of the sealing element 6, thereby holding it in position against the outer race 1. The needles 3 may be retained in a cage which is located by the washer 8.
