Abstract

1,238,433. Turbines. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. Feb. 5, 1970 [March 7, 1969], No. 5488/70. Heading F1T. A steam turbine casing 10 rests on a seating plate 13 bolted to a concrete foundation 12 and is located by at least two axially spaced anchor blocks 16 embedded in the foundation at substantially the axial centre-line (L-L), Fig.1 (not shown), of the casing 10, each block 16 having a keying portion 21 which extends upwardly into a recess in the casing with liners 24 disposed between the keying portion 21 and the walls of the recess to permit positioning of the casing. The liners 24 are L- shaped and are secured to the top of the keying portion 21 by bolts 25. Each recess is formed between lugs 22 integral with the base of casing 10, a clearance 27 permitting limited axial thermal expansion of the casing. The turbine drives an electric generator (11) which together with one end of the casing 10 is located by a common anchor block (16a). Several axially aligned turbine casings may be similarly located.
