Abstract
1,237,883. Animal feeding systems. RIPPER ROBOTS Ltd. 25 March, 1969 [15 Jan., 1968], No. 2061/68. Heading A1M. A power operated feeding system for dispensing liquid feed to animals from a plurality of outlets grouped in sections and connected to a ring main, in measured amounts and at chosen times, comprises a plurality of pens 4 each containing a teat bar 2 with teats 3. Teat bars 2 are fed from ring main 6, feeding being regulated by valve 14 comprising a float chamber 15 with float 20 abuttable against the valve inlet and which may be maintained in the valve open condition by plunger 58. The ring main is fed from a reservoir via pumps and control valves. The teats 3 are movable between a horizontal feeding position and a vertical non-feeding position over a trough 40 by a toggle lever system 25, 31, 33, operated by pneumatic motor 28. The system can be automatically washed by passage of detergent to the teats in the non-feeding position. There may be a plurality of ring mains, one feeding each set of pens.
