A microphone assembly (Fig. 2) has two individual microphones 1, 2 (Fig. 2) facing in different directions and mounted on a common support in the form of a handle 3. The microphones 1, 2 each have a unidirectional characteristic and their operative directions lie in a common plane with the longitudinal axis of the handle. A switch 4 or 4<SP>1</SP> may switch off one or both microphones or establish various directional characteristics. The microphone 1 may, or may not, be pivotable (see also Fig. 1, not shown). Two microphones (1, 2), Fig. 3 (not shown) may be screwed into or plugged into or magnetically mounted on a support. Alternatively two microphones 1, 2 (Fig. 4) are at opposite ends of a tube 7 clamped in a recess in a handle 3. Instead of the tube, a rectilinear member (8), Fig. 5 (not shown), may be provided and the switch (4) may be either on the member (8) or the handle (3). Two microphones 1, 2 (Fig. 6) are secured in a head 9 of a cylindrical handle 3 by nuts 11. The microphones 1, 2 are pivotable. A ring switch 10 is provided. Alternatively, two individual microphones (1, 2), Fig. 7 (not shown) are fitted on to a handle (3) to form a T-shaped assembly. The microphones may be unidirectional and connected in opposition electrically or connected to a common amplifier input via a changeover switch for selective operation. The microphones are of dynamic or condenser type.
