Abstract

1,236,064. Fire extinguishing slurries. DISTILLERS CO. (CARBON DIOXIDE) Ltd. 27 Oct., 1969 [19 Oct., 1968], No. 49685/68. Heading ASA. A slurry of solid CO 2 in a liquid fireextinguishing agent for fire-fighting purposes is produced by mixing liquid Co 2 and the liquid extinguishant under pressure such that a solution of one in the other is formed, and releasing the solution at a lower pressure when the slurry is required. Bromochlorodifluoromethane (BCF) is preferred. The two liquids are pumped into a container maintained at 30‹ to -80‹C., e.g. in a ratio 3:1 CO 2 :BCF by volume. The solution may be released via a cyclone separator.
