Abstract

An insulated electrical assembly comprises a hollow heat-shrinkable insulating member 20 which has a lamp socket (9, Fig. 3, not shown), or other electrical member with conductor wires 10 force-fitted into arm 4. A length 1 of cable 30 is stripped of insulation and wires 2 have their insulation stripped at axially spaced locations to expose conductors which are then attached to conductors 10, the cable having been passed through arms 5 of the member 20. The assembly is then placed over the stripped part of the cable (Fig. 3, not shown) and the arms 5, which contain sealant (8), are heatshrunk on to the cable insulation (Fig. 4, not shown). An extension 6 with an aperture 7 is formed opposite arm 4, and the assembly may be formed in a Y-shape rather than the T-shape shown. The arm 4 may also be heat-shrunk on to the socket, or only two arms may be provided for connection of the socket to the end of the cable. The assembly may also be used for a tapoff connection of T-shape (Fig. 6, not shown) or Y-shape, and strengthening ribs (12) may be provided between the arms.
