Abstract
1,233,483. Distillation of water. OPIMIN SOC. ANON. D'OPERATIONS IMMOBILIERES ET IDUSTRIELLES. 14 March, 1969 [14 March, 1968], No. 13495/69. Heading BIB. Brine is preheated in the coil of heatexchanger ECH and partly evaporated under reduced pressure in evaporator EV1, the remaining brine is pumped through line 2 and atomized into the top of evaporator EV2 where it is further evaporated under reduced pressure by steam withdrawn from EV1 and passed, via superheater SC, into the lower part of EV2, and the vapour flowing from EV2 is condensed in heat-exchanger ECH, the condensate (desalinated water) being withdrawn by vacuum pump PV which maintains the apparatus under-reduced pressure. Salts are extracted from the base of EV2 by device 6. The temperature of the brine is less than 50‹C. in EV1 where partial evaporation is effected with or without the application of heat. If desired, EV1 may be a solar evaporator. The vapour flowing from EV2 may be bubbled through brine in one or more further evaporators before it is condensed in ECH.
