Abstract

An electrical igniter comprises a circuit formed by an electrically conductive igniter composition 5, Fig. 1, two electrodes 1 and 2 which are in electrically conductive connection with one another via the igniter composition, and at least one semi-conducting member 6 of which the resistance is voltage dependent and which is positioned in the circuit so as to form a bridge between one electrode and the igniter composition, to divide one electrode into two parts (see chain lines) which lie in series with respect to the circuit, or form a bridge between the two electrodes. The latter bridge may be formed by a further semi-conductor (7, Fig. 2, not shown). Various other arrangements of the electrodes and semi-conductors are illustrated in Figs. 3-7 (not shown).
